It's been a whirlwind couple of months for the Healthy Land & Water’s Water by Design team with the first ever statewide Urban Stormwater (USW) and Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) Community of Practice (CoP) workshop finally coming to fruition at the end of February in Brisbane.
During the wet season, effective erosion and sediment control is more important than ever. Prevent contaminants from running off your building site and into waterways by quickly stabilising exposed surfaces and diverting clean stormwater away from disturbed areas, installing and maintaining sediment barriers, covering material stockpiles, and ensuring waste is securely contained on site.
It all began with a seemingly ordinary moment, as 14-year-old Rani watched water trickle down the drain while waiting for her shower to warm up. This routine action sparked an idea that led to the creation of a shower water-saving device she has called Aqua Loop.
