Smart nest boxes have been installed at Woodlands District Park to improve habitat and provide a refuge for local native species. Each nest box is fitted with a solar-powered monitoring station which allows us to make observations without disturbing wildlife in their new home.
More information about the monitoring stations and how to use them is available on the Comfy Creatures website here.
You can record an observation of the wildlife in the nestbox and upload it to the Comfy Creatures Wildlife Dashboard. This will share a picture from the nestbox camera, as well as temperature inside and outside the box, humidity and light levels.
Recording observations of which wildlife chooses to use the nestboxes, as well as conditions like temperature and light levels, can help us better understand what makes a suitable refuge for our native wildlife.
Once you are finished accessing the next box, disconnect from the wi-fi and turn off aeroplane mode. Inside the Comfy Creatures Monitor app, you can now press the “Sync” button in the upper-right corner of the app. This will upload your observations to the internet so that they are available to wildlife researchers and other members of the community.

You can also access observations that other people have made and uploaded. Search the next box number to find observations from your local park.
