Trevor Evans - Board of DirectorsTrevor Evans is the Interim Chief Executive Officer of Container Exchange (COEX), the not-for-profit organisation appointed by the Queensland Government to manage and grow Queensland's container refund scheme, Containers for Change.
An economist and lawyer by training, Mr Evans has distinguished himself as a leader across industry, government, and the circular economy. He served as Chief Executive Officer of the National Retail Association from 2012 to 2016, leading a period of transformational growth in advocacy for retailers and small businesses nationwide.
Elected to the Australian Parliament in 2016 as the Federal Member for Brisbane, Mr Evans co-authored Australia's marriage equality laws during his first term. Following his re-election in 2019, he was promoted to Assistant Minister for Waste Reduction and Environmental Management, Australia's first dedicated minister for waste, recycling, and sustainability. In this role, he spearheaded national reforms and co-authored Australia's first federal recycling laws to prevent Australia from dumping its waste overseas.
He has brought his economic and environmental policy expertise to a range of board and advisory body roles.
Mr Evans holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Queensland.
