Dr Andrew O’Neill is Healthy Land & Water’s Chief Science & Sustainability Officer. He is responsible for driving innovation and guiding Healthy Land and Water’s talented scientists and engineers as they work to improve South East Queensland’s environment.

Andrew is a dedicated and respected water and environment professional, a recognised and awarded contributor both in Australia and internationally. His journey has taken him from academia and practice to executive leadership, where he infuses courage, innovation, and creativity into his teams. Andrew connects with people from all walks of life and bridges systems and sectors. As a technical discipline lead in urban water management, capacity building, and knowledge brokering, he has progressed to senior roles, becoming a well-rounded, influential, and versatile executive.

Andrew is passionate about translating technical and academic knowledge into impactful outcomes. His contributions to water and environmental research and management balance theory with practical application. He mentors emerging leaders, guiding them through change, complexity, and leadership. As an executive leader and board director, Andrew builds and sustains relationships across research organsations, First Nations groups, NGOs, government bodies, and corporate entities.
