Exploring innovations in ecology: ESA 2024
In December last year, Healthy Land & Water team members, Indigo, Gabriela, Natalie (pictured) and Samantha attended the 2024 Ecological Society of Australia (ESA) conference.
The four-day event held in Melbourne brought together ecologists and practitioners from across the country to hear from leaders in their field, attend workshops and network with their peers.
After the event wrapped up, Indigo shared her on-ground conference highlights with us.
- Learning about new innovative research on how to manage invasive pests within Australia, specifically cane toads.
- Hearing insightful experiences shared between practitioners and researchers and a demonstration of this working between the Victorian Government, the University of Melbourne and contractors for a streetscape biodiversity project.
- Learnings of how we can partner with researchers to increase the impact of the on-ground works we do.
- Lots of ideas to incorporate new research or lead new research in the natural resource management space.
- Seeing how diverse the ecological space is and meeting lots of wonderful people working to make positive impacts on conservation.
