Healthy Land & Water: Environmental & liveability projects and advice

Healthy Land & Water sets the benchmark for environmental stewardship, climate resilience, and community engagement in South East Queensland, and beyond.

Our value lies in our ability to transform science into action, delivering measurable outcomes that protect and enhance the region’s natural assets and liveability.

We don’t just manage natural resources and protect environmental health - we future-proof communities, restore ecosystems, and build resilience. Healthy Land & Water is where science meets strategy, and where local action drives catchment, regional, state and even international impact.

Some of the reasons people choose us

  • Impact at scale: We deliver hundreds of on-ground projects annually, improving water quality, restoring ecosystems, and enhancing biodiversity across one of Australia’s most climate-exposed regions.
  • Science, expertise & local wisdom: With over 25 years of environmental data and deep community insight, our on-ground projects and advice to decision makers is informed, targeted, and effective.
  • Climate resilience champions: We lead the way in nature-based solutions, disaster recovery, and adaptive planning—helping communities thrive amid floods, droughts, and bushfires.
  • Community-driven change: Thousands of people engage with our programs each year, from landholders to local councils, building a shared commitment to sustainable futures.
  • Strategic investment: Our projects deliver co-benefits—environmental, economic, social, and cultural—maximizing return on investment and long-term sustainability.
  • Biodiversity guardians: We protect critical habitats and endangered species in one of Australia’s richest ecological zones, ensuring connectivity and resilience.
  • Sustainable agriculture: Partnering with landholders, we promote regenerative practices that improve soil health, reduce erosion, and secure water quality.
  • Partnerships to leverage impact: We have a large and growing multi-faceted multi-sector partnership base and we connect people and projects to amplify the impact we collectively deliver for the environment and liveability.

We are focused on building the health, resilience and liveability of our beautiful & biodiverse region, and beyond.

Healthy Land & Water: in a nutshell

Healthy Land & Water is the official natural resources management (NRM) body for South East Queensland. There are 54 NRM bodies covering every inch of Australia.

We are the go-to environmental body for the region, providing services, expertise and projects for the region. We also tailor several of our signature programs for delivery to areas across Queensland, Australia and internationally.

Each year we deploy hundreds of on-ground projects and provide advice for decision-makers to protect and improve our environs.

  • 25+ years of data and expertise.
  • Delivering on-ground projects.
  • Directing action and investment to where it is most needed.
  • Connecting people into synergistic partnerships to help more great work happen faster.

We are helping communities, businesses and government to protect and build the health and resilience of our ecosystems, so that by the time the Olympics and Paralympics roll around in 2032, we can all proudly be part of showcasing our region globally as a sensational place to live, work & play.

Driving more targeted environmental action in the lead up to the games will also help create an environmental legacy which will be a strong foundation to continue to build action for our ecosystems over the coming decades.
