POSTPONED! Native vegetation and fire information session & Fire management planning workshop | Esk

POSTPONED! Considering the current flood situation and potential further significant rainfall over the next 2 days and the safety of all concerned, we have decided to postpone Saturday’s Native Vegetation & Fire Management Planning workshop at Esk. All registered attendees will be contacted via email or phone

Landholders will have the opportunity to learn more about the management of fire in the landscape to help protect your properties, infrastructure, native vegetation & pastures at a free native vegetation fire management information session and a follow up fire management planning workshop in Esk. Attendees will learn how to prepare for and manage fire on their properties and surrounding landscape and will receive support to help develop up-to-date property maps and management plans for their properties. The Queensland Fire and Biodiversity Consortium (QFBC) and Healthy Land & Water (HLW) are partnering with the Somerset Regional Council, the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services to deliver these sessions.

Speakers from the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, Somerset Regional Council, HLW and the QFBC will share information on:

• Fire management roles and responsibilities.

• Advice about planning and preparation for upcoming fire season.

• How fire influences native vegetation and plants and animals.

• Managing fire to protect and enhance native vegetation and biodiversity and maintain your land in good condition.

• Using fire as a management tool in grazing & forestry production systems.

IMPORTANT: Attendees need to attend the Information session in order to attend the workshop.
