Healthy Pastures Healthy Habitat | Maroochy

Healthy pastures and healthy habitats benefit each other in a well-maintained grazing ecosystem. Learn how to manage your pastures for both productivity and ecosystem health through good grazing management principles and an understanding of how to provide a healthy habitat for native flora and fauna. Presenters include Bruce Lord & Vanessa Smolders (Healthy Land & Water) and Mal Smith (Ecollaboration).

This is a free event and includes morning tea and lunch.

Main topics will include:

  • Increasing pasture quality
  • Pasture rest & recovery
  • Pasture species & ID
  • Grazing strategies
  • Benefits of riparian buffers/good grazing management
  • Creating & maintaining healthy habitat

We will be heading out into the field as part of this event, so make sure you bring:

  • Notebook and pen
  • Suitable clothing for field work, including sturdy, enclosed footwear
  • Sun protection and insect repellent
