Below you can check out an array of images across South East Queensland showing impacts and resilience following the recent flooding. This smart impact tool was part of the rapid flood recovery response led by Healthy Land & Water following the devastating extreme rainfall events in early 2022.
People from across South East Queensland used the smart online form we developed to capture local information to better understand the current flood impact to natural areas and project sites across our region.
This enabled us to build a picture, even before floodwaters receded and we could get out to the affected areas ourselves. Getting as much information into this tool as quickly as possible has been an enormous help to help with disaster recovery assessment and applications. It has helped highlight the level of impact in each area and what rectification may be required. It formed part of our rapid briefings to the Queensland and Australian Governments to discuss potential next steps across the region.
