National Science Week school grants up for grabs
Grants of up to $500 are open to all Australian schools (preschools to senior secondary) to deliver engaging STEM events and activities during National Science Week (9 August – 17 August 2025) that encourage younger people to be fascinated by the world we live in. This has been made possible by a partnership between the Australian Science Teachers Association, with generous funding from the Australian Government.
Here are some ideas that we think are pretty cool:
- School Science Fair – a classic crowd pleaser.
- Science competitions – from agricultural biology experiments to physics-based egg drop challenges, competitions are a fun way to engage students through teamwork and lateral thinking.
- Quantum experiments – celebrating UN’s Year of Quantum, schools can conduct a double-slit experiment by passing a beam of light through two slits onto a screen, creating an interference pattern characteristic of waves.
