CSA Small Grants
The Australian Government is inviting organisations via an Open competitive process to apply to deliver projects under the Climate-Smart Agriculture Program – Small Grants Round 1.
Small Grants are for small-scale projects at the grassroots and community level that will support farmers and land holders to adopt sustainable agriculture best practices, as well as facilitate and implement practice change. The grants will improve the management of our natural resources and increase sustainable on-farm productivity and resilience to climate change.
The grants allow for a wide range of projects and initiatives, providing opportunities for information delivery and extension as well as scaling up of existing local initiatives. New or innovative, as well as tried and tested, climate-smart, sustainable agricultural practices are in scope. Applications close 4 June 2024 – Apply here

The Primary Producer Flood Management Planning Grants are closing on 31 March 2024. Eligible primary producers can access up to $7,500 via a rebate to offset the cost of eligible technical advice associated with developing a flood management plan.
Primary producers can access the grants by working with an Industry Resilience and Recovery Officer (IRRO) to prepare a plan and identify technical advice aimed at enhancing flood mitigation activities.

The Industry Recovery and Resilience Officer Program is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
Disaster Assistance – South East Queensland Severe Storms 24 Dec 2023 - 3 Jan 2024
Extraordinary Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants of up to $75,000 are available for eligible affected producers following the South Queensland severe storms and rainfall (24 December 2023 - 3 January 2024), to hire or purchase equipment and materials, clean up, remove debris, replace fencing and other costs associated with the recovery process.

To be eligible for assistance your property must be located in one of the defined disaster areas:
City of Gold Coast Council | Logan City Council | Scenic Rim Regional Council
Small businesses in eligible local government areas may also be able to access:
- Extraordinary disaster assistance recovery grants of up to $50,000.
- Disaster assistance loans of up to $250,000.
- Disaster assistance (essential working capital) loans of up to $100,000.

Future Drought Fund’s Helping Regional Communities Prepare for Drought Initiative Guidelines: Small Network Grants - Round 2
Small Network Grants are now available to community organisations in remote, rural and regional Australia to develop and deliver one-off community events or training and learning initiatives to strengthen community networks and capabilities that build drought preparedness Helping Regional Communities Prepare for Drought Initiative – Small Network Grants | FRRR
Applications of up to $ 20,000 are sought from locally based, not-for profit organisations in an agriculture-dependent remote, rural and regional locations.
Applications are due by 5pm AEDT 26 March 2024.
Climate-Smart Agriculture Grants
Through the Natural Heritage Trust, the Australian Government has established the $302.1 million Climate-Smart Agriculture Program over five years from 2023-24. This program will drive agricultural sustainability, productivity, and competitiveness.

Small Grants | Applications for this round of Small Grants will open later this year. | For on-ground focussed projects led by a range of community groups, Landcare groups, First Nations groups and research organisations. These small grants will support the adoption of sustainable agriculture best-practice that improves management of our natural resources and increases on-farm productivity. | TBA |
Please note that applicants are strongly encouraged to partner with regional NRM groups and industry bodies, particularly for the Partnership & Innovation Grants, where a consortia of partners and evidence of partner support is required. Given the relatively short timeframe involved, any organisations considering applying for these grants for supporting activities in South East Queensland are encouraged to contact us as soon as possible to discuss and support your proposal.

Rural Economic Development Grants Scheme
The objective of the Rural Economic Development Grants Scheme is to strengthen primary production sectors and bolster rural communities.
Round six expressions of interest (EOI) close on 28 March 2024. Grants are available up to $200,000 as a co-contribution to be matched by applicants. For more info and to apply, click here
Energy Efficiency Grants for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises
The Energy Efficiency Grants for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises aims to provide funding to eligible small and medium businesses to purchase energy efficient equipment to reduce and manage energy usage and costs. $10,000 to $25,000.

Nuffield Drought Resilience Scholarship
Applications for the 2025 Nuffield Drought Resilience Scholarship program are now open, farmers and others working in food and fibre industries aged between 28 and 45 can apply. Applications close 31 May 2024.
The Future Drought Fund (FDF) is investing $1.6 million through Nuffield Australia over the next 2 years for scholarships and training. The drought resilience scholarships will help farmers increase their knowledge of new tools and practices for a changing climate. Scholars will travel overseas to study drought resilience topics and learn from international leaders in the field.
