Creekside chronicles: Workshop 1 success & Workshop 2 reaches full capacity!
We just wrapped up the first "Regeneration and Resilience" workshop, and wow - what an amazing day of connection, learning, and discovery along our beloved creek!
A fantastic group of local property owners came together to kick off their journey of backyard restoration. The morning started with something special - each participant had the chance to observe and connect with the environment - It's amazing how much you notice when you take time to truly observe and take a moment to tune in to your surroundings!
We then shared what we love and value about living along Kedron Brook, recounting our creek stories and creating a wonderful sense of community and connection among fellow residents.
The rest of the day was packed with hands-on learning:
- Our expert collaborators from Bligh Tanner brought the creek to life with a physical stream model, demonstrating how water flows and shapes our landscape.
- The highlight for many was the plant identification session from our collaborators Bushtekniq where we learned to spot local species and common weeds (with real samples to examine!).
- We explored and answered questions about erosion, water flow patterns, stream processes, biodiversity, plant species and so much more!
- Everyone received a goodie bag, packed with information, maps, a workbook and tools to support their unique restoration journey in their own backyard.
Throughout the day, participants started setting practical goals for their backyard restoration and learned the foundation to start crafting their own environmental recovery journey on their property.
Speaking of Workshop 2...with so many enthusiastic residents registering, we have reached our capacity! To ensure everyone gets the most out of this hands-on workshop experience, we've needed to keep the group size intimate and manageable.
If you missed out on registering for it, please join our waiting list. We'll let you know if a spot becomes available.
