Finalist: Youth Environment Champion Award
Rosalinde Brinkman is an Executive Officer at Gold Coast Catchments Association and a passionate environmentalist with a keen interest in marine habitats. A native of the Netherlands, Rosalinde is passionate about empowering the community to make a difference to the natural world. Rosalinde has used hands-on sessions to teach thousands of children about the importance of coastal environment and coastal science, and uses her platform to raise awareness about how marine debris impacts our oceans.
During her four years working in Australia, Rosalinde has developed several environmental education initiatives including DuneWatch, a citizen science project which encouraged community members to assist in collecting data on the health of sand dunes on the Gold Coast. Rosalinde also coordinates the Gold Coast’s Biggest Tree Planting Day, helps conduct research on rocky shore environments and migratory shorebirds and assists over 40 environmental groups in the quest to improve and protect the landscapes and waterways of South East Queensland.
