Finalist: Volunteer of the Year Award
Luise Manning is the heart and soul of the Springfield Lakes Nature Care environment group. Luise’s passion for preserving the Springfield Lakes region began in 2015 when she initiated a resident’s movement to tackle the high amount of litter within the area. In 2017, Luise formed Springfield Lakes Nature Care and has worked tirelessly to fundraise for the group’s activities, which include organised litter clean ups, tree plantings, cane toad and Indian Myna control programs and the installation of 14 nest boxes in a local conservation area.
Since formation, Springfield Lakes Nature Care has grown to over 30 members. Luise has used the media to promote the group’s projects, build community participation and grow awareness about the importance of environmental conservation as part of her ongoing mission to make Springfield Lakes a cleaner and greener place to live.
