Finalist: Lifetime Achievement Award
Jordyn de Boer
Gold Coast entrepreneur Jordyn de Boer has worked towards keeping our waterways and natural environment clean for more than a decade. In 2013, Jordyn and co-founder Tania Potts developed the Boomerang Bags concept, a grassroots project to reduce the use of plastic bags by engaging local communities to help produce reusable bags using hand-sewing techniques and recycled material.
When Boomerang Bags started finding success, Jordyn stepped away from her full-time career to focus all her energy on the movement. From its initial pilot trial at Burleigh Heads, Boomerang Bags has grown to over 610 communities worldwide with 41 communities in South East Queensland. Jordyn's vision is to educate local communities about plastics, health and nature and inspire people to live more sustainable lives in connection with the environment
