Cressbrook River Bank Stabilisation Project
Upper Brisbane River, Cressbrook

The river bank stabilisation project at Cressbrook was completed as part of Seqwater’s Erosion and Sediment Control Program. The project reduces the risk of mass bank failure, sedimentation of the Lake Wivenhoe storage and turbidity levels impacting reliable water treatment.

Banks have been stabilised along one kilometre of the Upper Brisbane River on two grazing properties, following a process of consultation, research, design and delivery. The stabilisation process included:

  • Reprofiling the slope
  • Rock armouring the bank toe
  • Laying jute matting
  • Installing pile fields
  • Planting over 40,000 trees, shrubs and grasses
  • Installing stock fencing
