Save Steve Irwin Way Forest Group
Beerwah State Forest

Local Sunshine Coast organisation Save Steve Irwin Way Forest Group has worked tirelessly to protect sections of critically endangered habitat and subtropical lowland rainforest found in the Mooloolah section of the Beerwah State Forest. The Beerwah State Forest was under threat from a proposed road interchange.

This development would have cleared 100 hectares of important habitat. Thanks to the efforts of Save Steve Irwin Way Forest Group as part of the broader efforts of all levels of government and other community groups, the area to be cleared was reduced to just under eight hectares, while a further 744 hectares of forest was transitioned to national park for permanent protection.
