Revegetation of Pine River Wetland
Dohles Rocks Road, Griffin

In 2015, Unitywater and Moreton Bay Regional Council worked with the community to revegetate the Pine River Wetland by planting 1,500 native seedlings on previously cleared grassland.

The revegetation works directly contributed to improving the health of the sensitive lower Pine River and the adjacent Moreton Bay Marine Park, with the newly established forest slowing and absorbing overland water flow and trapping sediments and nutrients that would otherwise end up in our waterways.

The revegetated reserve also helped to protect the nearby Ramsar-protected wetlands, declared Fish Habitat Area, resident and migratory shorebird habitats, and adjacent Moreton Bay Marine Park.
