Flood Resilience Program
Brisbane, Ipswich and Somerset

In 2015, Queensland Urban Utilities’ (QUU) Flood Resilience Program delivered approximately $22 million worth of infrastructure, which will help to reduce flood-related impacts on the environment, economy and community. 

The program aimed to provide flood resilience by flood-proofing selected assets at the Oxley Creek, Bundamba, Fairfield, Esk and Karana Downs Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) and 20 STPs within the Brisbane and Ipswich area. 

The program delivered on a number of benefits and environmental outcomes, including: 

  • Reduced environmental harm in the event of a flood
  • Faster recovery times to limit the negative impact on the environment and the community 
  • Provision of a more dynamic response capability for QUU.
