Moreton Bay Regional Council

Total Water Cycle Management Strategy

Moreton Bay Regional Council has prepared South East Queensland’s first Total Water Cycle Management strategy under the state government’s Environmental Protection Water Policy, 2009.

The strategy, completed in December 2010, has been instrumental in identifying water cycle management issues and potential solutions within each catchment of Moreton Bay.  It provides a framework for balancing land development with the water and waste needs of residents while maintaining the health of the local environment and considering factors such as climate change and population growth.

Key accomplishments to date include –

Increased awareness of water cycle issues within Council;

Further strengthening the existing relationship between Council and Unitywater staff; and

Demonstration of Total Water Cycle Management as a positive process to integrate infrastructure and land use planning in the face of current challenges.
